I'm finally brewing again!!

Post by truckndad »

Haven't brewed anything since last June. I don't have storage to keep the fermenter cool during the summer, then blew out the back in August and had surgery in October. Was finally cleared to lift up to 25 lbs, but just in time for the hectic holiday season, so I didn't find any time to brew. Well, I have a four day weekend and swmbo is at work now, so I get to scratch an itch that's been there for months!!

My lhbs that just opened a little over a year ago is a great guy. He helped me get together ingredients for a couple of 2 1/2 gallon recipes so I can keep things under my weight limit. Doing all extract because I'm honestly not sure how well it would go with my back to lift a bag of grains out of the boil pot. Doing a basic APA with Amarillo and Columbus hops and tossing in some grapefruit peel. Then a quick and easy Irish Red.

I swear, I haven't looked this forward to a brew session since I opened that first Mr Beer kit four years ago. :give:

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber

I am drinking ale today."

And yet another reason that there are so many options for brewing out there. Extracts sounds like a great idea at this point. Welcome back to brewing!

That's really great. You and I were BOM at MrB not far from each other. I'm glad you're getting back into shape and back into brewing.

Welcome back, pun intended. Bad back here also. I do 5 gallon extract batches, split between two LBKs. Never lift more than 2.5 gallons since you boil with 2.5, add stuff, boil down, etc. Same work, more beer.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...
