Re: Whadya Get?
I got a pair of Spiegelau stout glasses! Tried one out the other day with a bottle of imperial Choco Brown. The aroma was pretty standard, but that glass kept the head on it all the way down to the last sip! I also got a one-gallon brewing kit that came w/ an IPA recipe. I plan to use it for small experiments. And then, of course, I got a 2.5 gallon corny keg that I am slowly picking up parts for to start using it (hopefully by the spring).

First and foremost, I'm a Trekkie. Got hooked Sept. '66(so fire me). My daughter got me a "Captain Kirk in his Chair" salt and pepper shaker.
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
Edgar Allan Poe

For fun stuff I got a Hubsan X4 quadcopter and a giftcard to the homebrew store so that I can make a batch of beer soon. I also got a lot of clothes and shoes which is helpful because I was down on my money for a while and that stuff wears out.
It's funny, I think the person that got me the quadcopter hates my wallet. She got me my first Mr. Beer kit which turned into a hobby and now she got me the quadcopter. I haven't had this much fun with something RC since I was real big into RC cars in middle and high school. I already want to start pricing out building my own after I get some more of the basics down.

I got this:
It's Surely Brewing's "Eight Ale". I've never had it but my son - who gave it to me - said it's delicious. And even though he's young his Daddy taught him a thing or two about beer so I respect his opinion.
Plus, from LOML I got a copy of "Over The Earth I Come" and a copy of "Through Dakota Eyes". Both about the events leading up to the 1862 Dakota up-rising that ended with the mass hanging of 38 Dakota warriors in Mankato, MN. Sad time. Sad history. So far very informative and well written books.

Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.
