Need to run to the LHBS and pick up some caps so I can bottle my Belgian Blonde. Gonna brew the IPA that came with my 1-gallon brewing kit so that I can test the equipment out.

Was supposed to do this on Monday but I didn't have a chance to. I'm mashed in on Bubs' IPA and will bottle Blonde Naturelle while the boil is going so that by the time I'm done bottling, the wort should be ready to cool and pitch on the cake from the blonde.

This afternoon I shall be bottling a temporal experiment: a batch of Mr. Beer Black Tower Porter, the cans of HME having expired in April 2010. I followed the vintage MB instructions, substituting a pound of Sparkling Amber DME for the booster. The hydrometer sample is dark (though not as much as I had anticipated), with no apparent off-smells or off-flavours. The downunda yeast was thrown into the boil for use as nutrient and I pitched a fresh pack of Safale S0-4, which had no complaints about the antique wort. This shall either be completely rancid and disgusting or (if my luck runs true) the most amazing, satisfying, unrecreatable homebrew I have ever concocted. Cheers!

Bottled the RCE brew on Monday..had a head cold but helper said aroma and taste were very good. This was a recipe that is an example of and old world English IPA that John (FIT) and I did. Can't wait to taste the carbed product.

Moved the Belgian Dubbel to secondary. Wow, that new Belgian dry yeast is a monster. Went from 1.068 to 1.004 in eight days. Nice fruity aroma...should be tasty. This is the NB kit I got for Christmas.

Just finished sanitizing the bottles and keg going to bottle/keg an Orange Wheat a little later.(just starting to get enough coffee where I feel almost human)

Sanitizing bottles for this evening's event: bottling my 2014 Barleywine. I brewed my first Barleywine in December of 2013 (an English-style Barleywine flavoured with Mission Figs). I let them age until December 2014 and I must admit that I was very pleased with the result. Even LOML, who detests "dark" beers but is always willing to try at least a sip of my experiments, proclaimed her love and willingness to drink as many bottles as I will ration to her. I decided to make it a December tradition. December 2014 I crafted an American-style Barleywine flavoured with Whiskey barrel oak chips. The hydrometer sample is very nice and I can hardly wait until December 2015 to give it a taste. I am already scheming on this year's edition. I am intrigued by the Fruitcake Barleywine from the gentlemen at Basic Brewing [ http://beerandwinejournal.com/fruitcake-barleywine/ ], and will most likely do a variation on their theme.

Will be cleaning the Levitation keg that kicked and refilling it with Bela's IPA.
While that's going on I'm brewing Colorful Dreams IIPA with over a pound of hops. Looks like the wind is out of the East, heads up Paul and Ron, sorry Chris.
