I label the last few bottles out of the fermenter (I bottle prime) with a T, indicating trub. Any other issues are coded on the cap too. Early on, I noticed that the trub bottles seem to condition faster, so generally I drink them first. My last few batches have been dry hopped, commando. So the last few bottles filled get some hops in them. And they are WONDERFUL. From now on I'm adding hops to all my bottles (kidding). But to all my hop-head brothers out there, I'm in! More dry hops for everyone!
And yeah, I just had one.

That may actually answer one of my previous posts...."why are some of my beers better after 2 weeks carbed than later"? ......maybe because they're more 'trubbed'?
thx

Re: Trub Beer, the next Big Thing
Same thing happened to me the first time I dry hopped and it's what got me liking hops more. Made the Mr. Beer American Light or whatever it is and after the first week of fermenting I threw in some Columbus hops. At bottling, the last 2 bottles had a noticeable amount of hops in them so I figured they will be strong and gross, better save them for last. The other bottles I didn't care a whole lot for so I was expecting worse from these last 2. The first one I opened had a great aroma of citrus/grapefruit and the first drink had me sold with its refreshing flavor; I loved it.
Good judgment comes from experience, which comes from poor judgment.

Well, it's a good lesson. I already love IPA, I think I'm going to rework this big Pale Ale recipe into an IPA.
