I've worked with companies in the past that operated huge mainframe datacenters with jet engine generators. Side of the building where the engines where was fenced off because when they kicked on anything would be sandblasted badly. The emergency cooling if everything failed was a swimming pool. Big valve on the bottom would dump cold water into the cooling system. Now cooling technology is much different.
In the very old days, a data center that was under renovation needed to be tidied up. Contractor swept the dust and nails under the raised floor, where the cooling ran. When they turned on the power, all the dust and nails ruined all the equipment.

Security? Don't they watch TV? All you'd have to do is cut out that guy's eyeball and cut off his thumb and bring along a boa constrictor to sic on the alligator and you're basically in.
