DOH! Brewery Tour

Post by D_Rabbit »

So my brew club spent saturday travelling to local breweries sampling the tasty necter known as beer! What a blast the day was. I did not take many pictures but others that did posted them on our local page for everyone to see. I'll post the link to the FB page below.

We started our day off at Belly Love Brewery and Tap room. These people were nice enough to open 2 hours early for us to stop in and start our sampling around 1030. The place was nice and the beer was great. I am glad we started there because it set the bar high for the other places. For a brewery to only be open for 5 week and to have the fantastic selection they have is amazing. I thought it was going to be an expensive day since I bought a growler of their oatmeal stout and figured it was going to be a trend but low and behold it was not. This was by far the best brewery of the day.

Next was Corcoran Brewery. It is a star wars themed place. They really promoted their Imperial Stout, known as JEB. I wasn't impressed but got a bottle to go since for $25 I got a sampler, t-shirt and the beer. Can't go wrong there! The other reason you can't go wrong was that the bartender was a former maxim model :)

Next was Adroit Theory. This brewery boasts about how none of their beers are below 7% alcohol. I wasn't really a fan of this place. Big beers are great but in reality how many can you enjoy before you fall off your stool!

4th stop was Lost Rhino. At this point I slowed down and took a small break. This was a hole in the wall place. Literally my bedroom is larger than their facility and they had 5 gallon buckets everywhere filled with fermenting beer. It was cool but not really my type of establishment. Can't speak to the beer as I passed on sampling here to recover a bit.

Old Ox was our 5th stop. They were the largest place we visited and had a few solid beers. Not only that but they had 2 Cornhole boards set up for some indoor fun and a food truck pulled in serving pulled pork! Tasty on the account of the food and the beer. They had a great Saison that I really enjoyed.

Last stop was Tin Cannon Brewery. This place is about 5 minutes down the road from me. I decided it was time to head home when we got there but am a huge fan of their beers, especially their Jalapeno Bacon Ale. These guys have also really jumped on board with our brew club and really promote us, as well as we promote them. We held a competition this past month for an english special bitter recipe and the winner gets to brew up his beer and serve it on tap there. Looking forward to that, although i'm not a huge fan of ESBs.

It was a blast of a day and really awesome to see all the new places opening up and thriving in the market.

Check out some of the photos on our FB page of the tours.
