Quick IPA question
Have decided to enter my Brett IPA instead of Bela's IPA for a competition. Should I enter under the IPA category or Speciality Beer and list that it is 100% Brett with IPA as the Base.

Re: Quick IPA question
Can you enter it twice? It definitely tasted like an IPA to me as I only got a hint of Brett in it.
S'up to you but if I hadn't know about the Brett, I would have said it was an IPA. But, the twist is the fun so maybe you can gain an edge in the Specialty category.
Glad to sit on the fence with you on this one.

That's why I hang around you, cause you so smart. Waiting for the labels to print now, let's see how it does in both categories.

Thanks Steve, this was "just because I had it" entry. It's my RIS that I hope does well.

Re: Quick IPA question
Maybe enter it in IPA right now since it's fresh, and then hide some bottles of it for 6-8 months and see how the brett develops. The brett should continue to do it's thing in the bottle sloooowly if you leave it sit around. Based on my Brett C infected stuff, it should get more "bretty" and less "IPA" like. (it will still probably be really good, but possibly quite different). Then think about what category to enter a bottle of that in when the time comes as a specialty beer.

Re: Quick IPA question
Thanks for the replies everyone. After checking, the other bottles could not be entered due to writing on them. So they are going in Speciality 100% Brett with IPA as the base beer. The judging is at the end of the month, so we shall see.
@Steve, thanks for the compliment. In my opinion my RIS is way better than the Rum Barrel you tried.
@Phil, I have your actual address and a bottle that I can't enter in the competition. Do you have a Naked Cat glass yet?
