Another brewer being accused of IP infringement

Post by duff »

Red Bull apparently has decided that ox and bull are indistinguishable.

But the best part is the response from Old Ox Brewery.

Great reply by Old Ox, BS by Red Bull. I think it will backfire on them as everyone is for the little guy. Plus, right is right (not that it makes a difference when lawyers are involved).

What a big Red Bully! These companies have so much money it is a drop in the bucket to them if even that, but even if they do not win, they win since the little guy ends up going bankrupt. There is no way these things can be confused. One of these days a judge is going to say that these types of lawsuits are frivolous and award a $100M settlement to prove a point. I could understand if it was Red Ox Energy Drink or even Blue Ox Energy Drink of if they pushed a type of beer loaded with coffee and ginseng the same as Bull promotes, but thats not what they are doing. Is PBR next since they use blue and red and its in a silver can? Dont they realize the hipsters that drink their Bull are the same ones that are also into craft beers? The craft industry needs to start doing more commercials like their Superbowl response to Bud and point out all these mega companies efforts at stomping on small craft brewers.

If I drank that swill, I'd stop/boycott it immediately.

I wonder if they sell Old Ox anywhere near me, I'll have to look now and buy some!

Disgusting! I hope this goes viral and Red Bull gets their @sses handed to them in the marketplace. I don't drink that stuff, but I'm going to do what I can to make people aware of this idiotic legal harassment.

That's it I'm changing the name of the website to Red Borg! I'd like to see them come after the Borg Army!!! Total BS. :x Trademark and patent laws are so broken in this country. You see this kind of thing all the time in the Tech industry and in severly hurts anyone that is trying to grow a small business or create a new product or new idea.

It has gone viral. This is a letter from Ox Brewery that was posted on their website yesterday to their fan-base. Check out some of the links at the bottom
http://oldoxbrewery.com/2015/02/dear-awesome-people/

I've seen this on many on-line news sites. Some of the small breweries around me are posting all about it on their twitter sites too.

So apparently Red bull feels that all of us consumers are not only incapable of distinguishing the difference between a bull and an ox but we also can't tell the difference between a beer and can of energy drink. That's funny because I can very easily tell the difference between a $3.70 can of energy drink and a $0.75 cup of coffee that has the same effect with fewer chemicals.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

$0.75 it's clear you don't go to Starbucks
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
