I knew you had lots of taps, I just didn't realize you were using picnic taps for all of them.Inkleg wrote:Mine are the same as FITs. Just that I have 7 pouring right now.FrozenInTime wrote:My fancy taps, have 3:

Re: Show me your tap handles!
Having cats is one reason I have no problem using picnic taps and keeping closed up inside the keezer. I feel regular taps would just become cat toys. Plus it helps keep them clean as it can be awhile between pours with so many to choose from.

That's a damn good point. I could see them pushing them open and then just sitting there and watching.

Depends on the cat, of course. Duncan has no desire to jump up on the keezer, even though he could do it with ease. And with mine, it's sort of on display, being right out in the open as soon as you walk into the ManCave, so I wanted something with a nicer aesthetic than a picnic tap.
Ron, I totally understand about labeling, too. I never understood the guys who just write a "W" on the bottle cap with a Sharpie to indicate a Weizen, for instance. I like the fun of coming up with a clever name for my recipes and printing and applying labels to the bottles, even though I only use two or three templates. It looks nice (even though it's mostly just me seeing it), and it actually gives a sense of finishing the job with each batch.

Great pics and comments. Gives me something to think about. I'll probably stay with the black for a little while (SWMBO has other projects for me... ), but down the road I think I want something a little more substantial. Nothing huge, maybe a 6-8"er. Lots of possibilities for design out there so I'll take my time, and it's definitely only for looks.

Must be nice. Heck, I got a blind cat (born with no eyes) who gets up on things. You find her in the darndest places, some she could not have climbed to. No clue how she did it.

Re: Show me your tap handles!
Mine are 6" handles, and I really think that's the best for what I've got. A lot depends on the space, of course, but it also depends on if you've got front-mounts or a tower. I like how my taps are mounted so that the handles come up about 4" above the level of the keezer lid. Makes pulling the draw very easy, and there's enough room at the bottom of the collar for a drip tray without getting in the way of most of my glasses.Dawg LB Steve wrote:The ones I have are about 6" or so.

Well, since she can't see, she doesn't know she's not supposed to be able to climb to those places. Besides -- dude, she's a CAT. They're magical.jimjohson wrote:Must be nice. Here is one I turned for a local brewery (Bur Oak Brewing). I turned 150 of these for their rollout here in Central Missouri.
