Gotta git'er done!

Post by FedoraDave »

I didn't brew last weekend, since I was tired out from work and couldn't get to the LHBS on Saturday. So I said okay, and looked forward to this coming weekend, since I was scheduled to be off on Saturday. I could bottle my Weizen Saturday morning, hit the LHBS and buy the ingredients for two batches, and be set for the next two weekends. Good plan.

But our service department is behind, due to the weather, so there's pressure being brought to bear on everyone. We were told yesterday that by the end of day Friday (today) everyone had to have their routes up to 70% completion. Anyone who was under that would be working Saturday. Well, end of day Thursday, I was at 63.8%, and I figure I only need to complete 14 services Friday to make 70%. It'll take a little scrambling around, but I think I can manage it, and I hope that's enough to put me there. I don't want to work three Saturdays in a row, which is what would wind up happening, and even though I could make it to the LHBS in the afternoon/evening, I know I'd be pretty tired by then, and we're supposed to get more snow, besides.

To add to the drama, Friday is my bowling league night, and I like to get home just a touch early so I can unwind and have a good hot dinner before heading out to the lanes. Although in a case such as this, I'd rather be running a bit late Friday evening than have to work Saturday.

Time for me to put on my Big-Boy Pants and run the table.

Well, I managed to do it. I pulled up four of Monday's stops, and wound up doing 16 services today. Yes, it was cold, and I would have preferred spending a little more time in my truck enjoying the heater. But I just kept telling myself that a little suffering today would pay off. And it did. I called the office at the end of day to see where I stood, and I'm over 70%, so I have tomorrow off!

And boy, do I need it.

Dave, I can't exactly explain it, but for some reason, I just like you. I must figure out a way to meet up with you in person one time before I cash in my chips. You're on my bucket list.

Thanks for the kind words, Joe. There are many, many Borgites I'd love to meet in person, too. And you are definitely one of them.

I don't know exactly what prompted you to post this, but I'm glad you did. It helped make my night.

I agree, Dave, there's a lot of good people here I'd love to meet. It's just that the last few posts I had read of yours somehow drove home to me what a positive attitude you always manage to have and what a gentleman you always manage to be. Just felt compelled to respond to that.

Absolutely true. I've only been lucky enough to meet a few, Yankeedag, K9dude, T8r, and the Brewbirds. Love them all and would be thrilled to meet so many others. I hope to be able to travel a little when I retire and get to meet others. My goal is to retire with $20,000 and I already have $5 so far.

At least you plan on retiring. I think I'll die working and with less than $5.
I'm already so tired I think I am constantly 're-tired'!

I'll tell you what. I'll split that $5 with you and we'll both get on a bus and meet up somewhere in the middle.
