Re: RIP Spock
I'm actually a bit sad. Star Trek was important in my youth, and Spock was a great character. The guys in my Field Training Unit in NYPD actually called me "Spock" sometimes, because I could render someone unconscious with a fingertip. Well, he's off on another journey now.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.

Re: RIP Spock
Very sad. He died of COPD, due to smoking. Earlier this year he tweeted "Don't smoke. I did. Wish I never had. LLAP". Hope that lesson reaches a lot of ears, pun intended.
As a young teen, I saw him perform as Don Quixote in Man of LaMancha at the Cape Cod Melody Tent. I was beside myself, didn't care a wit about Man of LaMancha, but LEONARD NIMOY was mere feet away... I was always into Star Trek, from the original series on until it got repetitive in later series like Deep Space Nine, and eventually Voyager. I didn't like Enterprise at all. I find the Star Trek references in Big Bang Theory quite humorous.

Re: RIP Spock
Yes, RIP, Mr Spock. Leonard Nimoy did a great job portraying the half human/half vulcan Spock, a man trapped between 2 cultures, never fully accepted by either one. Star Trek itself was ahead of its time, addressing issues of race, cultural bias, and colonialism before others dared to. Spock helped us examine our own humanity. I find it interesting that Nimoy struggled with his own relationship to the character. His first auto-biography was titled "I am not Spock". Years later he made peace with his own celebrity and his second book was "I am Spock". I loved the interplay between Nimoy and Zachary Quinto in the 2009 remake, and the later commercials they both starred in. He will be missed.
Live long and prosper.

Re: RIP Spock
While he was best known as portraying Mr. Spock, he was so much more. A versatile actor, a director, a poet, a musician, and much more. I think he was truly a renaissance man, and his wit and intelligence shone through in whatever he did.

This is so sad...
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

Re: RIP Spock
Ahhh, Mr. Spock, the coolest, besides maybe Scotty, of the Star Trek clan!
I was extremely sad to hear of the passing of an icon.
As Dave stated, he was much more than Star Trek, as far as his career goes.
LLAP Mr Nimoy.
