Atwater Brewery
Anyone in the familiar with Atwater Brewery? LOML gifted me some for Valentines day. VJ Black, an imperial stout, Grand Circus IPA a session IPA, and Hop - A - Peel an imperial IPA brewed with orange peel. Anyways the VJ Black is one of the best beers we have ever had. So what hints does the have to clone it.

Re: Atwater Brewery
I really love Atwater and the atmosphere. Sorta cool to be drinking right smack dab in the middle of the brewery with nothing separating you from beer-in-process. Last time I was there I tried to speak to the head brewmaster about hops but it was pretty busy as I somewhat recall something was going on. However, with respect to a clone I am a bit clueless. Been awhile since Ive bought their bottled beer as prefer to just get what is on tap. When speaking with a few of the others they were pretty open about what hops and such they used so you may want to send them a note and ask for some hints.

I've had their beer, the Vanilla Java Stout is one of my favorites, but I've never been to the brew pub/brewery. Maybe us Michigan peeps need to do a meet up there. Anyone interested?

Plymouth is only about 15 minutes from me and home to one of my favorite breweries, Liberty Street Brewing Co. I say we meet there and had to Atwater and get some fresh VJP.

I will be there for SE Michigan Browns Backers annual banquet, I did 3 beers (15g/5g/5g) for the event Saturday evening. My plan is to get up there Friday morning, once I get more info together, I'll let you know.LouieMacGoo wrote:Plymouth is only about 15 minutes from me and home to one of my favorite breweries, Liberty Street Brewing Co. Assuming that we are still in town or not in the process of schlepping stuff up north I'm game. I am sure the wife will be all in as well. She also tricks me into going to the Detroit Beer Company knowing full well we will park (for free) at the casino, go over and have some brews (and reuben balls), then back to the casino so she can gamble for a tad.

Yes the VJP is very good and now you have been there, like Yooper said kind of neat sitting amongst all the brewing equipment. Went over to AIH while here and stopped at Meijers and just had to pick up a couple sixes of the Vanilla Java Porter.

The Ann Arbor location, picked up a beer gun and 1 to 3 tap tower adapter for my kegerator in the basement or to adapt a tower to my keezer. What a store! Had points I redeemed. Wish you could have made it Friday.

Re: Atwater Brewery
Sounds like you guys had a nice time. I didn't get back in town until Saturday evening. AIH Ann Arbor is where I get all my supplies. I like it a lot more than their Taylor store which is a fraction of the size.
