My family - what a bunch of wise guys

Post by FedoraDave »

I posted on my Facebook page about how there's something really nice about a tasty, low-alcohol beer. I was talking about my Bit O' Bitter, which clocks in at a mere 3.5% ABV, but is tasty and refreshing, with a decent mouthfeel, unlike the light beers the megas are foisting upon us. I went on to say that if I really wanted to brew a more authentic Ordinary Bitter, I could Burtonize my water, but that's more than I care to do right now, and I'm happy with my recipe.

So my sister responds as follows:

For some reason, my head wants to define "Burtonize my water" as running it through Richard Burton first. Since he is dead, maybe you could get Tim to stand in. I think the difference would be notable, but not an improvement, so I'm glad I'm wrong.

And my daughter follows up with:

Running water through Richard Burton WOULD probably up its alcohol level.

If you guys sometimes get a kick out of the little jokes I make here, it's because I'm surrounded by bad influences, and I have been all my life.

I wish I knew who Richard Burton was.... Running your water through Tim Burton might give you claymation nightmares.

Popular actor, back in the day.

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Yes he loved his cocktails, and Liz Taylor on and off.

You're closer to the mark than you may realize, Don. My niece married a Sicilian from New Jersey. Fortunately, he and I share a love for cooking (especially BBQ) and for drinking my homebrew. So I think I'm a made man in his eyes. :lol:
