Wanted to brew Saturday but didn't

Post by Gymrat »

Saturday was a nice day and I thought about brewing. I thought about an IPA or an APA so I looked at my hop supply. I had 2oz of Cascades and a LOT of columbus. I thought I could brew an OK APA or IPA and started putting together a recipe in beersmith. Then I thought, why would I put 5 hours into brewing and 2 hours into kegging a beer I wouldn't drive across town to buy? I put an order into Farmhousebrewing for 4oz of Amarillo and 4oz of Simcoe hops and will wait until next week to brew. I really need to stock up on Cascade hops because I love a Cascade single hopped APA.

We all have our preferences. I would have brewed the APA, I like Columbus. (The sailor and the hop).
But then, I didn't brew this weekend either.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.

No point in brewing what you don't want. I like Cluster in my APAs
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I personally could make an all Columbus APA and like it just fine, my favorite beer out of the entire Lattitude 48 deconstructed pack was the Zeus beer (same thing as Columbus AFAIK), second favorite was the Simcoe.

But everyone likes different things, and yep, no reason to make it if you won't enjoy it.
