My brew schedule has been thrown off

Post by FedoraDave »

I like to brew every Sunday. It's my one sure day off (I work every other Saturday), and SWMBO is out grocery shopping in the morning, so it's an ideal time for me to brew.

But this past weekend, I was just too tired. I worked a longer-than-usual day on Saturday, and I didn't have the energy to bottle a small batch of stout that was ready. I put that off until Sunday morning, but I didn't brew.

This coming Saturday, we'll be spending the afternoon in the city. My daughter's bridal tea is happening, and my wife refuses to drive in NYC, so I have to take her there. I guess my future son-in-law and I will find something to do while the ladies have their little party. It'll be a nice change of pace; I'll be bottling in the morning, and I intend to brew on Sunday, as usual. Just a week later than planned.

Good link, Swen. But I don't think we'll want to spend the entire afternoon sampling beers. Besides, my son, AKA The Bhoy-o, will be with us, and even though he's 21, he doesn't like beer. I was kind of thinking maybe a museum would be a nice place to visit. Anyway, The Mike is a native Manhattanite, so I'm sure he knows a great many places to visit on a Saturday afternoon.

Well Dave don't feel like the Lone Ranger...I just finished bottling, a job I usually do on Thursday. Today is my usual brew day, guess I'll be brewing tomorrow.
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I think I was smart to take last week off. My mind and body needed the rest, and now I'm looking forward to brewing this morning. It'll be a relatively quick brew day, as I'm doing a 2.5 gallon BIAB. That cuts down on the clean-up, too.
