Prayers Please

Post by BlackDuck »

If your inclined to pray, I ask for a prayer for my wife's grandmother. She is in her 80's and has been diagnosed with botulism. There was a pot luck dinner at her church this past Sunday where many were infected. So far, one person has passed and others are unresponsive. She is in the hospital, but is doing OK so far. The CDC is getting an anti-toxin to Columbus tonight to treat everyone. Here's a link to the story: http://www.nbc4i.com/story/28862164/sev ... -lancaster

Prayers for all those involved. And especially to the family that lost a loved one.

If she is in good health other than her age, she should do well.

In our thoughts and prayers, Chris. That worries me some when we have potlucks out at campgrounds, usually 4-5 a season, with so many different people and their habits of safe food storage and prep.

So here's the morning update. Grandma has only a mild case so far...her main symptom is double vision. She received the anti-toxin over night, so they will keep her for a couple days and watch closely. Unfortunately, Grandpa was admitted to the hospital last night. His symptom was difficulty breathing. He is about the same age as her, but his overall health is not as good. We are not sure if he received the anti-toxin yet. That's about all we know at this point.

SO sorry to hear about this, Chris. It's strange to me because one, you don't hear about this much and 2, I just this morning saw a story some where online before I read your post (and I can't find it now) about a botulism outbreak somewhere.........and that gave me chills.

I hope they catch this all in time and the anti toxin works for all of them. Please keep us updated.....prayers for all.

Sorry to hear this Chris. Prayers sent
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Sorry to hear this. Hope everything goes well for both your grandma and grandpa - and everyone else.

Did they pinpoint the origin yet? Someone's home canning gone bad?
