Your post sure set me back a bit......I'm sorry you didn't get to know him longer. I'm off to mass in a few minutes and I can tell you that he will be in my prayers as soon as I get there. People like him..........well, I just can't say enough about.

you and your family, and ALL those who kept and keep us free, will be honored by me this weekend.

My wife and I went for dinner with her brother and his wife last night, he served in Vietnam on river patrol. Today we hope to barbeque in the yard and have my father-in-law over to spend the day with us, he served on a ship in World War II. He's 89 now but still can recall what that was like, especially the time when the fleet sailed right into a Monsoon.

Yesterday morning I finally got around to adding another 15 amp circuit to the brewroom, I'll use it to power the chest freezer I plan to use as a fermentation chamber. Then early in the week I'm planning two brewdays for brewing a Hiphopapocalpse IPA and a batch of 420 Special Wheat. I call it a 'Triple B' kinda week - brewing, barbeque and beer, aka: the best week ever.

I assume you meant typhoon. Wow, he was in Halsey's Typhoon? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Cobra_(1944) That is so cool.

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I thought the same thing Jim!

And Gymrat, I'm sorry for your loss at such a young age.

I can remember my Mom crying in her bed at night while my Dad was in Vietnam.
He served two tours.
I missed him and He came home, but at my age then, I didn't understand the danger he was in.
