The wait is over. The Big Demon is finally available
Well it's been a long time coming but the Big Demon 7 gallon fermenter is now available on BrewDemon.com with a starting price of $125. With the BeerBorg members discount you can get it for $114 with free shipping
https://www.brewdemon.com/equipment/all-equipment
It's available in both amber and clear.
I'm still working on my review and I hope to have it done soon.
Cheers!

ouch!
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Price is high, and much higher than Mr. Beer's big fermenter plus bottles and ingredients.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

Doing some research on my upcoming review which led me to my LHBS to take a look at the FastFerment today

/I wouldn't give $50 for the fastfermentor

If you had to scrub that fast fermenter down near the bottom, it would really suck.
I do like the wide lid on the Big Demon, but it's too big for me (height wise). Wish it was shorter and fatter.

I actually have the Fast Fermenter and it works great. The top is wide enough to fit my whole are in there. It comes completely apart for easy cleaning as well. I really like it. The only issue I had with it was the stand. I think the stand is pointless unless you sit it on a table or make one that is tall enough to drain in to a keg. I ended up mounting mine on my wall which works well too. The trub collection ball is great too. Makes yeast harvesting so much easier!

The Brew Demon Fermenters (big or small) are just a conical shaped bucket. Without the function of a true conical for yeast dumping I don't really see the point. I know that is an add on, or you can DIY but I agree the price is steep for basically an Amber colored Conical shaped bucket.

I will say for the record that everything I brew in my pair of LBCs does seem to be ready to drink faster and generally turns out a bit better then the same thing fermented in my remaining LBK. I can't explain why, but it does seem to make a difference. I got the LBCs for ease of cleaning, not really expecting any difference otherwise, but my taste tells me otherwise.MadBrewer wrote:The Brew Demon Fermenters (big or small) are just a conical shaped bucket. Now I don't use a bucket because it's hard to do what I do with a bucket. As in for ales with an estery yeast, which is half my beers, I don't airlock and don't tighten the lid or use a gasket (I call it "semi-open fermenting"). I only tighten the lid once the majority of fermentation is complete if I can't get to bottling it soon. So I need something with a lid that has a lip that goes over the fermenter edge when it's not snapped down even if not tightened - (beer infecting bugs can't crawl up, but they can get blown/fall in, so bucket with loose lid isn't good in my bretty house). So I can't compare bucket to LBC. But I can compare LBK to LBC. I could grab a 3 gallon Speidel and compare, but I'd rather just get another LBC I think, I like my little demons.

The Big Demon has the dump hole in the bottom that comes with a plug. I ran up to the local hardware store and for about $7 got what I needed to make a functional yeast/trub dump. I will be elaborating on it more in my article but this pic should give you an idea.MadBrewer wrote:The Brew Demon Fermenters (big or small) are just a conical shaped bucket.
