Second wedding beer

I've been sampling the 9/Fifteen Pale Ale recently. It's the second beer I brewed for the rehearsal dinner, and while it's still a bit young, I'm very pleased with it. A sharp bitterness up front, tempered by some malty sweetness. A good mouthfeel, and a somewhat dry finish.

Again, this is going to be served with a menu of Italian foods, along with the Saison D'etre, which I'm also pleased with. Both of these beers should mature pretty well between now and September 5. I'm feeling good about my contributions to my daughter's wedding.

Also a good point! I've got (hopefully) at least 18 years to plan to brew for my daughter's wedding so I think I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Dave, When it's all said and done and the wedding is over, repost the final results and the recipes you brewed for this............... You've worked hard on this wedding and brewing... and I gotta' think it all will come out excellent :urock:

The next step is to make some really fun labels if you're planning on bottling the beer for the wedding. I did that for my daughter's engagement party and the labels really added that personal touch.

Vince, I used the same template for the labels that I usually use for all my beers. I like the way they look, and there's some consistency in it.

I'm glad you're on a good track for the wedding, Dave. Here, I have a bit of an irony. A cousin's daughter is getting married in September, and some relatives coming from the East Coast was an occasion to plan an open house. So in addition to offering my regular inventory, I got batches of Belgian Pale Ale and cider into fermenters. Now it turns out they'll only be here for wedding, with not enough time for longer visits. So, my inventory grows some more until I give the extras to friends here.

I definitely will. The interesting thing is, the saison is one I've brewed before, and the Groomsman's Pride is actually a variation on an IPA I'd made before; I just added some specialty grains to give it more color, body, and a slightly different flavor profile. The 9/Fifteen Pale Ale is the only original recipe in the bunch. Turned out pretty good, though, and I'll be keeping it in the brewing rotation, since a good pale ale is always nice to have in the pipeline.

Sounds like your family and guests are in store for a real good time, hand crafted beer and great food. Best wishes to your daughter and keep us updated we can all learn a thing or two about brewing for a large venue.

I don't know if I'd call it a large venue, though. The saison and the 9/Fifteen Pale Ale are for the rehearsal dinner, which has a guest cap of no more than 40 people. And not all of those 40 people will drink beer. The groom's father is also contributing some homemade wine to this dinner, also, so what I did was brew both of these beers in 2.5 gallon batches, bottled six bombers for the dinner, and then the rest, for myself, in 12 oz bottles. I figured six bombers of two styles would work out fine for a crowd that size.

For the Groomsman's Pride, those are gifts for the groom and his two groomsmen. A six pack apiece, and three bombers each, so they're each getting about a half case of beer. So a five-gallon batch took care of it quite nicely.
