custom work

Post by mtsoxfan »

Since I was turning to kegging, I wanted to use my skills and some nice stone to create tap handles as well as a tap "base" not sure what else to call it. I took some soapstone, cut, sanded, and polished to a near mirror finish. I wish the piccs could show the rich green color and grain... I left the tops of the taps rustic, to show off the soft,soap like feel of the stones. I like that look...

In other threads, I claimed I don't name my beers, other than what they are, ie toasted oatmeal chocolate stout. I also don't name my brewery (is it really a brewery) but if I did, it would be called Soapstone Brewery, after a like named mountain a couple 3 miles away, that I have spent many hours hiking, biking, motorcycling etc.

WOW those are really nice. I don't think I could brew beer worthy to be dispensed from those handles.

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I bet if you put some of those on the Buy Sell Trade section you wouldn't be able to keep up with demand.

Thanks for all the kind words. Keeping busy keeps me out of trouble and is a great stress reliever. I had some leftover pieces from a wine cabinet I made my wife, so I tinkered... I had never worked with it before, so I discovered I could get either a mirror type finish or a pebbled finish depending on sanding technique... Wife got the pebbled, it was a mistake :redface: , but she likes it better than the smooth.
Inkleg, from what I read, your brews are dynomite, even if they weren't, any brew is deserving...

BB - I have found that I enjoy things more if I do them for the love of it, not the money... like teaching, God knows I don't do it for the money. Not that I want to start anything new, now that school is starting for me plus night classes I'm taking, but I might consider doing someone a favor by creating a base or handle. I don't have much left, but I also don't what to do with it yet either...

I've done ice carvings, but my animals are nowhere as nice as my baby grands and eifel towers... Most do animals, I don't have that kind of talent.
