Re: custom work
If I could do your Avatar, I'd have another business going. If you want something non-animalistic and simple, I'd be happy to help... I just don't have to the tools to do intrikit (sp) work. These pieces were a time occupier while I had time off this summer. And I wanted the Perlick's to "pop". I actually thought of doing a chesspiece, inspired by a borg thread.... Soapstone is soft. Working is a hobby of mine, whether it is being at work or staying busy with projects. Spare pieces were just laying around, I had a need for tap handles and a base, gazinga, idea popped into head. I've done a lot of work with wood, and this seemed similiar. With winter aproaching, and spending more time indoors, I think I might start fiddling with it, maybe making more tap handles. The more I work with it, the more comfortable I am.... I just need to steal someones idea, plan whatever and run with it.
Me personally, I love the natural color. But if you wipe it with water, it turns an awesome color green, almost emerald like. To keep it that color, you wipe it down with mineral oil. It was just too bold for the original wine cab top I made, but I could see with a tap handle for an Irishman...
