As far as mine being a hoppy pale, it's actually in line with an IPA according to the style guidelines. It's on the low end of the color and gravity, but it's there.
That's not an IPA in Beerlord's style guidelines.
I hope my mashing at 154-155 plus the rye will work out but mine is still not locked in until the night before when I grind the grains. I may find some other grain I only have a little left of and decide to get rid of it as well.
As for kegging, I say go for it. Why not get your feet wet with a nice IPA in the keg? You have a few lifelines if you need to make a call. As the local lawyers here say, "One call, that's all" and unless you call me at 2 am, I'm always available for a consultation (regular fees will apply).

This one is on for my this Saturday. Went to the LHBS and picked everything up. One tiny adustment from the recipe that I posted earlier; I changed the .13 ounces of each hop at first wort to .25 ounces of each at first wort. Your welcome Paul!!!
Looking forward to this one....

Got this brewed up today and though it was only in the mid 80's when I started, the humidity was killer. I drank enough water to stop the drought in California!
I was looking for 1.067 but boiled off a bit too much and was between 1/4 and 1/2 gallon short and ended up with 1.073. For some reason I check checking the gravity with the refractometer and it was going nowhere but when I checked it later, it was high so I need to pay a bit more attention I guess.
It sure smelled purdy!

I let it ride but didn't decant the starter so it added about a liter and a half more.
I actually saved the water from chilling in our backyard fountain and the wife uses the extra water for plants so we are trying to conserve some water though we need none.
But, it has been very dry here lately and we're coming up to October, our driest month. Maybe I won't have to cut the lawn every week by then.

Well, I know you have nothing but rock gardens but we actually cut our back yard in half with a bricked patio area and fire pit plus lots of our garden (which was mostly weeks) are now rocks. Makes it hotter in the summer but much easier to work with.

Today was FG reading and dry hop day. FG came in at 1.009 for a 6.2% ABV. OG and FG were just about spot on BeerSmith. Dry hopped with 2.75 ounces of each Simcoe and Amarillo. I originally planned for 2 ounces, but I had an extra 3/4 ounce of each so I figured they would do better in the beer than the freezer. All is good so far.

I am going to keg it. But I figure I would only dry hop this. Since it will be my first batch in the keg, I can concentrate on getting the system balanced without having to worry about keg hopping.
