new to this forum

Post by brewster65 »

Hello,

i am new to micro brewing.
received and used the Mr beer starter kit to begin my micro brews.
looking to graduate the next level.
I have made several version of Mr beers and I found them to be just ok.
I am looking to start trying DME verses LME. in brewing.
I do like making just 2.5 gallon batches.

Welcome brewster65.
I'm guessing you are wanting to do some extract with hop boil and steeping grains batches. Or have you already done so?

MB is a good starter, maybe not the best beer you ever had, but a good beer you'd brewed your self

DME and LME are basically the same thing, you might be thinking HME (hopped Malt Extracts) What MB and BD uses, they are the canned brew.
You come to a good place to learn how to make good beer.

Welcome Brewster! Glad to meet you.
There is a near endless world of brewing adventures to explore at your own pace. There are many well established recipes in books or the internet. Experimenting is fun, but brewing is kind of like baking. It's best to improve your technique and learn ingredients before venturing into creating recipes. You can find recipes on this forum, on HomeBrewTalk, on brewing software sites like Brewer's Friend, in magazines and books. My go to book is Brewing Classic Styles.
Good luck, have fun, keep us posted.

"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
