My newly-minted son-in-law gave me an unexpected gift at the rehearsal dinner on Saturday. A very nice Dogfish Head glass (I'm not sure if it's a Pilsner glass or a tulip glass, or a hybrid of the two, but it's very nice). And two bombers of Dogfish Head's artisan beers.
One is the Etrusca, and the other is hard to read, but I think it says Kvasir. The backstory on it is that she was some kind of Scandinavian warrior/brewer, or something. Both of these beers were researched with great care to make them as historically accurate as possible.
They're also both really high ABV; one is at least 8%, and the other is 10%. So I won't be downing them in a session any time soon; I'll save them for a special occasion, and when I can savor them.
The great thing about this gift, besides proving that my son-in-law is a keeper, is that they're beers I might be curious about, but wouldn't want to spend the money on. Now I can try them without any expense.
But has anyone tried these? And if so, what did you think?
Anyone familiar with these beers?

No, I have a couple of those already, and they're great for IPAs! I believe someone described it as an "olfactory cannon," and that's a good way of putting it!
This glass has a stem and is fluted similar to a pilsner, but something about it just makes me think it's not a pilsner glass. I'll try to find a photo of it online.

I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

I keep forgetting about that site, Rick. Thanks for the links. Time for some research.

Interesting glass. Since my wife will occasionally drink a hef or wit I bought her one of these from Bell's:
In any case, I gave up on Beer Advocate a long time ago. All the reviews started sounding the same to me. But, these beers are unique so it does give an idea of what to expect, I suppose.
Plus, this thread isn't about me so I'll shaddup now!
Do post a review when you get around to trying them. They sound like they will be very interesting to hear about.

Re: Anyone familiar with these beers?
As is the case with many DogFish brews, the ingredients might be historically accurate, but the high ABV is likely not.
