I might just become much better friends with the local coffee shop. I have a lot of homework to do for my schooling and I am working some so if I do all my homework at the coffee shop it might be enough to avoid having too much conflict.

#93 - Gerst Amber Ale Conditioning and Carbing
ARGH! Started to keg my Steam beer and was running hot water, went upstairs cleaned some other things, get back downstairs almost done filling the keg and wouldn't you know it hot water tank lets loose! Get evertything shut down call for service, tonite for 1200.00 and probably be done around 1am or 750.00 first call in am, no brainer, but have no water in the mean time! Water comes in and tees into tank and then to shutoffs for other areas of the house.
Was able to then keg my Traveling Irish Red.
A bit ironic I was kegging my Steam Beer and hot water tank started steaming out a top seam!

Guess I can't complain too much, it was about 8 years old when we moved in, that was in 2000! But it is the timing, have too much crap going on this weekend and going to miss half a day of work. Fortunately happened while we were home and not while we were away for the weekend, and I can do most of my job from home, they connected me remotely when I was recovering from abdominal surgeries in 2012/13.

Sorry to hear of your plumbing issues, Steve. But like you said, good thing you were home. I know of 2 friends who literally had INCHES of water thru out their home because of an issue like this while they were at work.

Sorry to hear about that. Ok so to all that is listening I am going to give you a tip that can make your water heater last a real long time. And it will also keep you safe. Once a year you should hook a hose to the drain on the heater and open the valve and blow out the sediment that collects on all water heaters. Only need to run about 10 or so gallons out. Close the valve and remove hose. While you are there open the T&p valve for just a second to make sure it works properly. That valve is designed to keep your water heater from exploding if the control module sticks open.
