Clones
Saw a post asking for a clone of a brew so I thought I would throw up some sites I use for clones and recipies. Hope this is helpfull for ya'll. Some of the recipes are intense, some basic, so enjoy.

I had lots more but lost them when my last laptop took a dump. There are lots of clones as well as recipes folks like ya'll and I have posted/shared. Feel free to add more sites, the more the merry'r.

Re: Clones
Excellent links thanks!
Re: Clones
I've used some of those sites before but a few, I've never seen.
Thanks for the links!

Re: Clones
I often go to the brewery's website. More and more of them are listing thier ingredients. From there, if it is a beer I have had before, I can usually get really close to duplicating it based on my experience with the ingredients. I also have the magazine BYO put out a few years ago with 250 clones. Another resource I use is to simply google it. I type in name of beer clone. Some breweries are now giving complete recipes on thier websites. Stone brewery does this.
Re: Clones
Thanks for the links! Looks like some good resources. I did find an interesting project while looking for recipes. One of my favorite breweries is Pyramid (got hooked when I lived near Seattle, and they got me hooked in the Craft Beer sector!). Looking at their website they give you the malts and hops and maybe even the yeast strain used. But no numbers. They challenge you that part of the game is figuring it all out. As I get better in my brewing and look into cloning more beers, it will be fun to see how close I can get! Hmmmmm, now that I think about it, it might have actually been the Deschutes Brewery website. Either way, same story, hooked on it living close by. Game on!

Re: Clones
That is what I like to do JimH. It is challenging and really tests what I have learned about malts and helps me learn more. I got my left hand milk stout almost on the mark. They taste almost the same even when compared side by side but the left hand has that nitro mouthfeel that I dont know how to duplicate.

Here's what you need Roger... You can add it to your current setup if you do alot of stouts...

Re: Clones
Good sites, one and all. And I agree that the brewery websites are good places to mine info as well. I've even found that emailing and/or talking to the brewer will generally get you everything you need. The professional brewing community is pretty open. Linus straight up gave me recipes for most of his beers. I think he knows that there is little chance I'd brew his recipes and never come back to the brewery...

Re: Clones
Well, if your CO2 supplier also sells 'Beer Gas' (usually a 3/1 mix of CO2 and Nitrogen), you could switch to that once in a while, in the current tank you have and then just buy the stout tap!Gymrat wrote:Yeah I know.
