Like the first day of spring

Post by joechianti »

Finally dropped below 90 degrees here and I'm in heaven. Couldn't stand to be outside for months, but came out of hibernation today. Cleaned up the smoker this morning and started it up, then bottled one batch and brewed another while meat smoked away in batches. Gonna have 2 weeks worth of smoked beef, pork, chicken, sausage and fish by the time I go to bed tonight. Since the beer work was done, I've been chilling out with music and booze just watching the wood and the meat. It sure feels good to come out of hibernation.

Great! Here it was the first day without rain since Tuesday, maybe Monday. Breezy and cool, very fall-like.
Nice to see you Joe.

Hello Joe, long time no heard. I'm just the opposite, soon it will be too cold for me to do a lot of the things I like to do. Good to hear from you.

My stars, it's Joe Chianti! Good to see you, old fella! And it sounds like a real productive day for you. It's great to get the smoker working, isn't it?

Me, I bottled a 2.5 gallon batch, brewed another 2.5 gallon batch, and made some more barbecue sauce, since we ran out last week. It'll mellow in the fridge for a while, and be mighty good once spring hits.

So good to see all of you guys too. Been out of work and broke as heck, but still alive and kicking. Today was my best day in a long time. While bottling and brewing, as well as drinking, all day, I gave a lot of thought to how much I learned from all my friends here and how much it means to me. Love you all.

Hi Joe,

Sorry to hear about work, is it again or still (that's a bloody long lay off)? Sounds like there won't be a shut down; I hope that will help.

Glad you stopped by the Borg to say hi BB2 and I miss you a ton. :(

Say hi to my favorite SWMBO on the Borg and give her a big hug for me.

Still laid off since July. Probably won't have work again until Feb. Kind of a mess. Not allowed to do any tax work which I enjoy and am pretty good at, due to conflict of interest. Can't take a permanent job at anything, even if I liked it and it paid better, because I'm too close to a small pension here and not enough time to earn one elsewhere. If it wasn't for the fact that I enjoy eating and having a place to live, I wouldn't mind not working at all. We miss you guys, too. As soon as we can travel a bit, we sure hope to come and see you.
