Just playing around and having fun with this hoppy pale. Of course, could change before next Sunday but the branch I'm stepping on my break but who cares, it'll be beer.
Got a few firsts......Golden Promise, Swaen Malt and haven't used Crystal hops in years and only use Nelson Sauvin once. Ain't brewing fun?

Nope. Never used Golden Promise nor Swaen, sorry.
I don't use a lot of crystal in my pales and when I do it's usually C40 but that's just preference.

80 because I have lots of it and want some color and maybe some flavor. 1/2 pound won't do much in 6 gallons.
This is new to me too but it's only beer.

I like C80 a lot but usually use it in English beers or Reds.

Had some 007 that was older than 001 and I've been wanting to use 007 for a Pale Ale/IPA so I am making a starter for it. I use 001 so much I should easily be able to taste the difference. While 001 may let the hops shine a bit more, 007 is pretty clean too. 1.5 liters in the beer and the rest in the fridge for another brew day. I'm cheap like that!

Really, it was on sale, with free shipping and I've already saved more money than it cost in yeast. 1 vial of yeast and I can get a number of starters and spread it out over 5 or 6 beers. Clean yeast each time. No washing required.

More than 48 hours and this starter was underwhelming in it's looks. Never did show krausen (means nothing) but I cold crashed in 3 liter jars and after only 6 hours in the fridge with settling time still 3 days out, there's already a ton of yeast settling in the bottom.

I didn't either until I got an email from Farmhouse Brewing that they were selling it. I looked it up, liked what I read and figured I would try it. You can't find too many comments on it but many said it was best used in conjunction with other base malts. A few said that they used it 100% and liked it but enjoyed it more mixed so that's what I decided to go with.
Never having used Golden Promise either might muck up the flavors a bit so I will likely not know what I'm getting from it but what the heck. I have more left to play with.

Slight hop bummer-----didn't have as much Nelson Sauvin as I thought so I switched the 10 minute to Citra and kept the later addition and dry hops the NS which I think might be best based on what hops I have on hand.
