Re: A Simple Amarillo co-op
Mine is definitely getting more and more dank since the hops are still hanging in the keg. That's what we're tasting.
It kind of comes of at first like Parish Ghost (I am NOT honking my horn). Odd that it's a pretty simple recipe and took just a few minutes of drooling to put together. My OCD did not get in the way.
Thanks for sharing with me.

Re: A Simple Amarillo co-op
So are they close enough to each other that if drank a few days apart you would think it's the same beer? Or just different enough to tell?
Re: A Simple Amarillo co-op
I'm thinking you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you drank them a few days apart. I think they are that close.

I think the aroma has a bigger difference than the taste up front but as it warms, they smell about the same.
So, what name should I use, Simply Amarillo or Simply Simarillo? The latter is closer to Simcoe/Amarillo.

Re: A Simple Amarillo co-op
So sad, I lost the more than 2 gallons of this last night. Somehow, the line in my kegerator was frozen and the tap was left open and by the time my wife yelled, "something's wrong with your beer thingy", it was all over the floor. Took 90 minutes to clean up the mess and it was all gone. Damn. I have 4 bottles left and now I have to brew another beer very soon.

That sucks.....how did the line freeze, and why in the world was the tap left open?

Re: A Simple Amarillo co-op
I have long lines due to the Accu whatever line I use (which I love). Sometimes when moving kegs around, the line leans on the cold plate on the back and gets frozen.
I obviously, accidentally, left the tap open but I have no idea if I did. No one else was here. It had been at least an hour since I even touched the kegerator. One of those ghosts stories.
I can live with the loss as I've had an excellent accident record lately.
I'm going to move on and not cry over spilt beer though I wish it was not this beer that it happened to.

Sorry about the beer loss. My thought on ghosts are "If your gonna haunt the place, you could at least help clean up every once and awhile."

So every time I think "maybe I'll get a mini-keg" I hear some story like this LOL, and then stick with bottles LOL.

Re: A Simple Amarillo co-op
I'm pretty sure it was 'operator error' and I was do a dunce cap but for the life of me, I still can't be sure.
No worries, I'll rebrewing it on Monday with some slight changes. Got lots of Simcoe and Amarillo so why not, right? And I'm taking a 4 day weekend and if a homebrewer is off of work more than 1 day, the rule is he/she has to brew.
OK, I made that up but it should be a rule.

Ouch. Couldn't have been something dark that got left open, huh?
