Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker cpming
Sounds nice, almost a session IPA with an enjoy by date. Who would have thought of that?
I'm sure, like all of their other beers, it will be good.

Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
It's a bit higher than I would consider a session IPA. At 5.9% it's on the low end of an IPA but I tend to think of the session IPAs to be no more than 5%. But I'm splitting hairs here. I am looking forward to trying this since I like so much of their stuff.
Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
Session or no, I can say that I'm much more likely to pick up a sixer of something 5.9% then something 7-8-9%. So if I see some I'll give it a try.
Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
Agreed. I'm not sure when this will hit shelves, but I will be watching for it and will post my thoughts when I get my hands on some.
Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
I just read last night that they are expanding the Paso Robles brewhouse. I wish they'd increase capacity to sell here. Houston's as close as we can get any FW beers.

Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
You can do things like that when sell to the bigger boys...honestly Firestone beers have been my favorite beers ever(esp in Cali) and I hope I never see them on the shelves here...unless they built a brewery within 500 or so miles of me, otherwise I think it is of the same and would rather see local breweries step up to their level in each region..wish they didn't "sell out" it is great for them though wish them the bestBeer-lord wrote:I just read last night that they are expanding the Paso Robles brewhouse. Interesting how distribution works, or doesn't...Beer-lord wrote:I just read last night that they are expanding the Paso Robles brewhouse. I wish they'd increase capacity to sell here. Houston's as close as we can get any FW beers.
We get all the distributed FW brews here in WNY...
Surprised they aren't available in NOLA Paul...

Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
I am going to land on the wrong side of this and I know it even as I type.
Does the world really need yet another IPA? I love IPAs. Don't get me wrong. There are dozens of other styles of beer out there. I realize everybody, and I mean everybody, is chasing the almighty dollar. IPA is where the money is. Come on though!! Somebody throw me a big old American Brown, a thick malty Bock, a national sour ale of any freaking kind, how about a nice Porter? Who doesn't like a well done Porter this time of year?
A significant portion of the craft beer community chases around after IPAs and the latest, greatest hop variety the way a 3rd grade soccer team runs around in a constant huddle chasing a soccer ball around the field. Doesn't it remind of the BMC crowd when the industrial brewers came out with Miller Lime and Bud Lime?
Okay... deep breath... rant over...
If I see it on a shelf somewhere, yeah, I'll try it...

Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
I never seem to tire of them and as long as they keep coming up with new hop varieties, they'll keep making them. But, sours are the new IPA and since I'm s bit soured on sours, I'll keep brewing and buying IPAs,
All that said, they wouldn't keep making them if they didn't sell so much and that's the final truth.

Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
Not at all. To some point, I agree. I hate going into a brewery/tap house and seeing nothing but IPAs on the menu. While I don't like dark beers (for now) I do like wheats, sours, pales, ambers, and the occasional pilsner (side note: Firestone also makes my favorite pilsner).Pudge wrote:I am going to land on the wrong side of this and I know it even as I type....
I don't like anything to be too singularly focused but I do like the wide options available within the IPA category.
Breweries are going to follow the trend to continue to make money. If the people want IPAs, that is what they are going to brew and put out there.
Let's just hope that it's not ALL that gets put out there.
Re: New IPA from Firestone Walker coming
I understand your feelings here........actually, today I had to go out and pick up some IPA's because all I had in my fridge were stouts, porters, coffee porters, Octoberfest et al. (sorry Ron). I've been drinking mostly dark the past month and started craving an IPA today. And I too don't like going into a place that only sells one style.Pudge wrote:I am going to land on the wrong side of this and I know it even as I type.
