For the price of a small keg you can get a 5 gallon and then have options. Just because it is 5 gallons doesn't mean you gotta fill er all the way up.

Maybe not, but I'm not completely comfortable with the idea, either. And I already have three 5-gallon kegs for a 2 tap system.

I am just curious what makes you uncomfortable with that?

Small volume in a large container. I know it doesn't make a difference, since I'm draining the five-gallon kegs, and eventually there will be 2.5 gallons in them, and even less, and they'll still draw just fine. I just don't like the idea.
It's also the fact that, as I mentioned, I already have 3 five gallon kegs. There are space considerations in the lager fridge, too, which is where I would have to keep the smaller-volume keg. If I went ahead with it, I'd just hook it up to a picnic tap and open the fridge whenever I wanted a draw.

I can see the space restrictions.

I have four (4) of those small 2.5 gallon kegs. They are easy to bring along to tailgates, parties, etc ...
I bought a hand pump and picnic tap to go along with them.
They are definitely an expensive option but I like the portability

Have 2 2.5 gal kegs will probably get more since it takes the same amount of time to do 5, 7.5, 10 gal batches I have tried to do 7.5-10 g batches to cut down the amount of brew days.
