Looking forward to brewing this weekend

Life got in the way last weekend, and I wasn't in shape to brew. After a couple of brutal work weeks, I needed the rest more than I needed the therapy of brewing. This week was easier on me, and I have Saturday off, so I'm bottling a small batch in the morning, hitting up the LHBS, and brewing a fiver of 9/Fifteen Pale Ale on Sunday.

It's gonna be a good weekend.

I have two of my grandkids coming over around 3:30 this afternoon so there is some time...

Going through my hops inventory for inspiration right now, seems I have a number of sealed bags of whole cones that have been frozen for a while that I should really use up... Fuggels, EKG, Citra, Tettenang, Saaz...

What to make, what to make...

Maybe a mild with the British hops, or a hopped up Belgian Blond with the Citra, Tett and EKG...

Looks like I'm in for Sunday too! I've going with an Ordinary Bitter to give me a session option come winter. After that, I'll probably look at putting the RCE together.

Ordinary Bitter...nice. Not a style everyone is brewing. What is your recipe? I was just thinking of brewing my Premium Bitter after the next batch.

Hey, I just PM'd you about the RCE. I plan on brewing it the last Sunday in November.

And I've got a pretty nice Ordinary Bitter recipe I put together, myself. Just the thing to have in the pipeline come summer. I doubt it's a proper bitter, according to style, since I don't Burtonize my water, or anything. Still, it's a nice, flavorful easy-drinking beer.

I'm in the same boat. For a variety of reasons (mostly travel), I haven't brewed since July (didn't realize it had been that long). I last legged in mid August.

But I'm going to brew a partial mash tomorrow. Something along the lines of an apa or an ipa (kind of on the border between them). El Dorado hops for bittering and home grown cascade for flavor and aroma.

I did an extract bitter last year about this time. Doing AG this time. But, I had to call an audible based on my LBHS not having golden promise. But, it'll be a good session beer. Nice to break up the RIS and soon to be tapped Christmas ale.

I kind of combined a Northern Brewer recipe with the one from the BCS book. Then called the audible.

Mine hasn't been from travel, but an extremely full schedule of work! That's a blessing, I guess!

Dave, that was the plan! Brew, then take my time setting up the kegerator to make sure I get it right.
I usually make a habit out of waiting until I need something to work on it...not this time!

Maybe next weekend I'll get a smoked porter that LOML wants!

Get the kegs going, because that's a long-term issue.

Then you can worry about the smoked porter.

Priorities, man. It's all about priorities.
