I've been missing in action for a few months but my long mold remediation and bathroom rebuild is finally over!
I got a Zymatic in July and have only brewed three beers on it. I've finally got a corner of my garage set up as a brewing area and can get around to figuring this expensive machine out.

I put a really involved three coat 100% epoxy on the garage floor. The bathroom contractor put a vent that I can hook up to an exhaust fan in the wall of the garage. The Z doesn't put out much water vapor because it doesn't hit boiling temperature but after dealing with mold in the basement I don't want to take any chances. I wish I had a sink in the garage but I don't have a spigot. I still need to run an electric line so that I can wire an exhaust fan and put in a new electrical outlet. I can brew using what is in the garage until I set things up the way I really want.

Next up is a Moose Drool clone! Maybe I'll brew on Sunday.

Hey there Mr. Banjo-guy. Was thinking about you the other day when I listened to a podcast that talked about the Zymatic and their new toy coming out soon.

Glad to hear from you.
I brew in the yard when possible. I use the hose spigot for brew water. The hose in a plastic sink that can be moved about for cleaning. Outside I just let the outflow hit a rock on the back hill. If I were in a garage I would run a drain hose out to the driveway.

I've been thinking about putting a cheap utility sink in the garage and supplying water with a hose from the outside spigot and running a drain hose to the driveway. I don't see any issues with this do you?
It's probably not up to code but I would only use it on brew days.

For those using hoses, make sure that you understand the difference between a garden hose and a water hose.

A garden hose cannot supply drinking water. First, the hose itself often contains lead, from a pigment in the hose. And the brass fittings contain lead. And the hose might have BPA in it, or PVC. None of that is good.

A drinking water hose is usually NSF certified. This is an example of a drinking water hose.

In short, you should NOT drink, or make beer, or wash things, from a garden hose. If you must, make sure you flush it well - do not drink or use any of the water found sitting in the hose.

I'm not disputing Rick. I'm sure that the best thing to do is use a food grade hose for your water, even washing. But I don't. I remove the hose and fill the pot directly from the spigot, which is probably brass. When washing, I use the garden hose that lays outside all year. The reason I don't use the hose to fill the pot (though I have) is that the hose may contain growth that could affect flavor. On the boat I fill the tanks with a hose I keep aboard for that purpose, but it isn't drinking water quality, merely a nylon fabric hose. On boats it is standard to run some water through the hose before filling tanks to clear any growth, though here on Long Island the water is chlorinated.
Your mileage may vary.

I should of mentioned that the water from the hose would only be used for cleaning not for brewing water. I'll use filtered tap water for the brewing water.
The more I think of this its almost as easy to wash everything down in the driveway. Its a long term project. I mull it all over.
