Founders All Day IPA post-elliptical. It's good for this...not very heavy, crisp, tasty.

Dogfish Head 90 Minute.....something I rarely am able to get. I really love this beer. The balance between malt and hops are amazing. I'm a West Coast IPA guy but if you love IPA's, you have to be able to give major props to this one.

4 Kilts Clueless Belgian Strong. This seems to get better with age, the sweetness is mellowing and the yeast driven "Belgian" flavors are starting to stand out. Will be bringing a couple bombers of this to Asheville, too.

I had one of mine tonite and I just don't love it. It's not bad, but maybe just not my kind of beer. It tastes of decent quality so I can't complain. Have not had any of the others, was waiting for the group toast that was discussed. Belgians could just be one of those styles that may take some time for some to come around to. Belgians for me are ok for a couple here or there, but not something I would be the style for the night.

The first attempt at brewing a C.H. Evans 'Kick-Ass Brown' has turned out to taste very close to what I had hoped for. I'm planning to brew a second batch in the coming weeks, this time with a few minor adjustments to lighten the color a bit and to boost the ABV% a point.
C.H. Evans 'Kick-Ass Brown'
Actual: OG=1.052, IBU=40, SRM=23, FG=1.017, ABV= 4.7%
Mashed at 155F the WLP-001 yeast did a good job of cleanly fermenting the wort. However, when the less fermentable wort was combined with a 65F fermentation temperature, the yeast only produced 65% attenuation. At 68F the yeast is rated at 73% - 80%, go figure.
The lower attenuation is not a flaw in this beer, in fact it complements the citrus, chocolate and coffee aroma with a smooth mouthfeel. This is a perfect beer for the holidays and at under 5% alcohol it is definitely a very drinkable session beer too. Cascade, Chinook and Hallertauer hops were used for bittering, flavor and aroma. Together they blend in perfectly with the rich malt base to provide an added level of complexity.

What are you drinking?
Stone Stochasticity Project Graniac. This is a heavily malted red/amber ale with Centennial and Cascade. This is really tasty. It's probably the best Stochasticity Project beer yet. Most of them are a little odd in the ingredients that they use. This one fits that bill also with some of the grains that they used, but it turned out to be a very good ale.
