Beernog Anyone?

Post by BlackDuck »

Just saw a tweet about making a BeerNog. It mixed 60% eggnog with 40% porter or stout. Sounds like it could be rather tasty. Might have to give this one a try. It might work with a Spiced Christmas Ale too.

Anyone ever done this?

Here's the picture that was on Stones Twitter account. Many replies on how good it is.

Might have to try this after the coffee porter is done or add some to stouts already in the fridge. I'm not a big 'nog' fan but I would like to give this a try.

After searching for a recipe, most of the ones that I found start by making the Egg Nog fresh, and adding in the stout/porter instead of the alcohol. I'm not going to do that. I'll just buy the nog in a milk carton from the store, then combine that with the stout in the glass.

I was thinking this immediately when I saw the thread. I don't think the "fresh" version is as sweet and cloying as the sugary store bought stuff.

Also I wouldn't be surprised to hear that fresh, not store bought eggs are touted for this to work.

Never the less I can't see drinking a very large mug of the stuff unless you haven't eaten for days or are fixing to hit the most rugged ski slope. :p

It sounds like a resolutions buster but then again I do have that ginger bread stout sitting in a closet. :jumpy:

I wonder how it would be with my whiskey stout.

Yup. You gotta try this. This is mixed with a coffee stout with a little nutmeg sprinkled on top. Quite yummy. I bet the whiskey stout would be fantastic.

Nice lamp! :)
I'm going to go hunting for some nog soon and maybe try it with different stouts.
