First Time brewer, long time beer lover

Post by RedDog15 »

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am Kevin. I live in Western PA and have been a long time beer lover. I have been trying to talk the domestic commander(who I have converted to a full time craft beer snob for a Michelob Ultra drinker) in letting me start brewing our own beer. So this Xmas she got me the Mini Brew Demon kit. I will have lots of questions because I want to graduate to the next level ASAP. My secret dream is to brew my own beer, sell it and open my own brewpub. Thanks for letting me join the forum!

Welcome to a Great Adventure, and The Friendliest Forum on the Web. (That needs theme music)
It's probably already too late to steer you away from days and nights of brewing, your only hope is to forge ahead. Most of started just as you are, with a new kit and hopped malt extract. Be careful with sanitation and fermentation temperature, soon you will have good beer. Resist the temptation to alter recipes until you have learned procedures. You can progress as quickly as you can study and practice. I strongly suggest that you read John Palmer's How to Brew, it can be read free online, or later editions purchased. Don't be put off by any mistakes or bad batches, they happen to everyone. You will find a discount code for BrewDemon in the Members Only Deals section. Please keep us up on your brewing adventures.

Welcome Kevin, great to have you here! Domestic Commander huh, haven't heard that one before. That's pretty good, right up there with Spousal Support Unit.
Looks like John nailed it with his greeting. We have all been in your shoes and are paying if forward for those who helped us.
Please ask away, we would love to help spend your money and time with this hobby. Then when you open your brew pub, we get bragging rights. Well that and free beer.....right?

Hi Kevin, and welcome to the hobby! I'm currently sitting in Meadville visiting the in laws. Lots of great Brewers with great advice here. Don't be afraid to ask away, as we've all started somewhere, and most of us started just like you are.
