I mounted my taps

Well after a few years of kegging I finally decided to mount my taps through the door of my beer fridge. I can hold 3-4 kegs in there plus my co2 tank. Up until now I used picnic taps for the most part and once in a while I set up my taps on a removable rack I had that would set in the fridge like a shelf off the back brackets. I just never wanted to drill through and ruin a good fridge. But the rack became a PITA and I felt like I wasnt using my taps to their full potential. So Infigured that is what the beer fridge is for anyway so the other night I went for it. I have two more to install and they will be equally spaced off to the right of the middle one. So its a start. Here is some of my Porter I am sampling.

I decided on the keezer route, and my brother and his friend build a wooden collar for it, detached the lid of the chest freezer, then re-attached it to the collar. Works great, and it can always be converted back to a freezer just by taking the collar off and installing the lid back onto the unit.

I am liking this much more already. I do like the look of a keezer better. The freezer I bought over the summer is small it was bought as a fermentation freezer. It holds a 6 gal glass carboy or bucket fermenter perfectly but would be too small for multiple kegs. If I was buikding for a bar area in the house, a keezer would be it. I would paint it black and add a nice wood collar for the taps. I think after mounting the other two taps this setup will look more complete.

Nice! I've been wanting to get around to doing this for a while. I picked up a couple Perle taps, sadly they have sat for bout 3 years now. Live keeps getting in the way.

Man, I've got the nervousness about going through my fridge. Good to know someone made the leap!

I'm still using Whamo's cheapo picnic mount inside mine, which I'll probably leave in place.

It was on the MBF of course. Here's a pic of my set up. It's just picnic taps mounted through wood. I have mine on 1x2s set on the freezer shelf and painted with chalkboard paint. Whamo's old set up used magnets and had a drip tray. He's since moved to actual taps, I believe.

and since then I picked up another fridge that already had holes in the door. I like not having to open the door every time I want a beer. Also, it is easier to keep the kegs and beer lines at the same temp all the way to the tap. When it gets warm here, opening the door would jack the temps and it was hard to get beer without foam. Especially during a party.

That fridge is now a carb fridge. Kegs chilled to 38* and under co2. Ready to switch to serving keg at a moments notice.
