I always enjoy reading his experiments, thanks for posting.

I occasionally do an extract beer (a few per year, actually) and I don't bother telling people that I used extract. Nobody has ever asked me either. Could I brew the same beer AG and have it be better? I dunno. But I'm happy with the way they turn out so I'll keep doing that.

When I do those I use DME or fresh LME from More Beer (like mashani).

Some on the Borg here have even had an extract beer I sent them (gasp!)

My brew club did an experiment last Spring. We each brewed the same recipe on our different systems. Some guys went rogue, my version was bad. One team brewed two batches, one extract+, one AG. The recipe was BCS APA. I think the extract version was better, but the two were so close that they had to be tasted together to tell the difference. The brewer who made them is very experienced, and a chemist, so I don't think he messed up the AG.
