So, you want some Pliny the Younger do you?

Post by Kealia »

Russian River just posted this to the Facebook page as well as on their site to let people know what they are in for.

It's such an event that they've worked out deals with two local hotels for a Russian River rate.
For those that don't know, the pub itself isn't very big. Holding just 135 people and nobody comes and goes quickly. Even during non-event weekends, you can expect to wait an hour or two to get in if you don't get there an hour before they open to get in line.

For the record, I did this a few years ago. My buddy and I were up in Santa Rosa on a beer tour, staying the night. We realized that it was Younger time so we walked a mile from our hotel to the brewery at about 8:00PM, waited for about 45 minutes and got in. It was good, but I far preferred Elder, as did he.

I'm glad we did it, though. It was a fun experience to be there with others who were excited about the event.

maximum of 3 per person
This is smart. Except 3 of those for me would still be irresponsible.

Agreed. At 10%, a 10oz pour was plenty.

And it was after hitting 4 breweries throughout the day so my kidney was also working overtime. As was my liver.

They almost make it sound like the hop portion of the recipe is different this year..... "The hops used in this year’s recipe are of excellent quality: Simcoe, Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, and Tomahawk. "

Yeah, I picked up on that, too. I guess it could be interpreted as calling out the quality of the hops, then just naming them. But does that mean then that previous years were poor quality in comparison? Gah, who knows.

I'll just wait until a keg of it shows up at my local ale house. They tend to tap the keg on a Saturday morning and it's usually gone by mid-morning :) I don't get much done on that day :)
