Now that I have

Post by FrozenInTime »

4 cans of WIld Spirit IPA HMEs, what should I brew? I used to have many recipes using the old ADIPA, but have since deleted that file (by accident, or sump'n). I'm looking for a good tasting but *lite* IPA. I'm thinking 2 cans for 2.5 gallons with 1.5 lbs of traditional dark DME. Using qbrew it looks to be a fair IPA without needing any hops added. What say ya'll?

Recipe Wild Horse IPA Style American IPA
Brewer FrozenInTime Batch 2.50 gal
Extract

Recipe Characteristics Recipe Gravity 1.062 OG Estimated FG 1.015 FG
Recipe Bitterness 49 IBU Alcohol by Volume 6.0%
Recipe Color 14° SRM Alcohol by Weight 4.7%

Ingredients Quantity Grain Type Use
2.40 lb Mr. Beer American Devil IPA Extract Extract
1.50 lb Briess DME - Traditional Dark Extract Extract
Quantity Hop Type Time
2.00 oz Mr. Beer American Devil IPA Pellet 10 minutes

While looking in my extra's bucket of grains and DMEs, I discovered a treasure trove of brewing ingredients I had long forgotten. Thankfully, they are stored below 55 and all well sealed so there are still good. Tell me o BORG, what brews can you come up with using the following ingredients. Hops if I don't have, I can get. I have a package of Falconer's Flight 7 Cs, 5 ounces that I have not used and would like too.

Grains:
2 lb 2-row
3 lb Munich
.75 lb Carapils
.75 lb 6-row 40L
.75 lb 6-row 80L
.75 lb 6-row 120L
.75 lb 6-row Black Malt
.75 lb 6-row Chocolate Malt
.75 lb 6-row Roasted Barley Unmalted

DMEs:
2 lb Pilsen Light
1 lb Traditional Light (after I use up 1.5 lbs with the 2 IPAs above)
1 lb Bavarian Wheat
6 Lb Sparkling Amber (got this for a recipe and plum forgot what I was gonna make.... old age...)

Thanks Louie! According to that, just the 2 cans would be a nice lite IPA, bout what I'm looking for. Maybe I'll just steep 1/4 lb carapils, heat, dump in 2 cans and go with it. Been awhile since I've done up a kit-recipe, it will be nice to touch up on the basic mix.

I still have all those other ingredients, any thoughts? I like pale ales and will gladly do up a 2.5 gallon batch.

Just a thought, whomever comes up with the winning recipe, I'll send u a couple bottles when it's ready!
