Beer trade for my Pliny?

Post by Kealia »

Hey guys,

I have an "extra" Pliny from my recent trip to Russian River Brewery that I'm thinking about parting ways with. I would really like to try a Heady Topper which I hear good things about but can't get out here in California. Is there anybody that has access to one that would be interested in a swap?

This isn't restricted to the folks that I really know here or have swapped beers with in the past, I'm open to trading with anybody. And because shipping isn't cheap it makes sense to pack at least 2 beers in a box I'd love to swap a homebrew or two at the same time (if interested).

Hmmm, nobody? Is Heady Topper that hard to find?

I've only had it twice and once swapped for it but yes, from what I hear it's limited and there are always lines for it when it's out. Much like Pliny.

It is very hard to find outside of the Northeast and about $15-$20 for a 4 pack.

You might try HBT or BeerAdvocate. I bought a couple of cans here on LI once, but they were smuggled and $12@.

Never mind, there it is.

I thought about that but I'd rather see the Pliny end up with somebody here.

Well, this gives me another idea then.....I'll offer this up for trade to somebody that:
1) Has never had one
2) Is interested in sending me home brewed Pale Ale or IPA in return, OR
3) Has a really good Pale Ale or IPA available to them from a local brewery that I haven't had

Let's see if that interests anybody.

I have a bottle of Pliny that my shipmate brought me. So I think you should send your gem to someone else. But I have NB Plinian Legacy on tap, if you'd like to sample it. And if there's anything from the NY that you crave, I can put in a bottle or two. Brooklyn, Six Point, Bronx, Greenport, Southhampton, Great South Bay? I have a couple of Greenpoint Otherside IPAs and some Six Point Imperial Red. They aren't remotely like Heady Topper, but I bet you haven't tried them. I wish that Greenport bottled Hopnami, but they don't.

Seriously, nobody wants a Pliny? You're going to make me drink this myself?

I do, but I already trade with you. And I can't get you Heady anyway. Hopefully someone can come up with a worthy trade for that fine bottle of Pliny.

Of course I do but us little southern, cajun boys don't have diddly to trade for it.
I'm brewing 11 gallons tomorrow. Is that a fair trade?

Well, if I can't get the Heady I'm just looking for a good pale/ipa that I can't get here. And if nobody "new" posts up by tonight that they are interested in it I'll send it whomever wants it whether we already trade and if you've had one or not.

Consider me in then, that's if you you don't have any other takers. I'll be happy to find a couple local awesome pale ales that you can't get.
