Then you can handle bail money. You're first on our emergency call list.
Re: Asheville, NC - An Open Invite to All
I'm sending a liter or two of beer that looked like this with Dawg. But it's not as funky tasting as it looks.
Re: Asheville, NC - An Open Invite to All
I can't wait to taste your beer Mashani. Thanks in advance for sending it.

I will also have two other 1 L bottles of Mashani's. Historical British IPA (is this correct) and a Wheat w/French Aramis as the hop.

Why are we even leaving the house? We'll have enough beer that we'll be cross eyed before noon!
Thanks for sending some beer with Steve. Looking forward to all of it!

Well all of this is making me feel like crap! I'm unable to bring anything due to flying yet I don't have anything worth shipping.
I guess I'll have to OWE for the rest of my life. But I certainly look forward to trying all these beers. I KNOW from firsthand experience how good Steve, Jeff and Chris are as brewers....and Paul, well, I can't really give a relative any good press so now I get to try stuff from others.
thx guys!

Don't even worry about that Chuck. 99% of what I'm bringing are local craft beers. I plan on bringing a few Sours that I've bottled, but haven't tried yet. Oh, and what ever your brother brings in his bladder after spending the night Thursday.

The British beer is of a style that is a predecessor to what became British IPAs. It's nothing at all like what we think of as American IPA. Folks may or may not like it, we will see. It is correct to the intended style, except less estery then it should be because my fermentation temps were too low. It has 3x the quantity of boil hops vs. finishing hops, so it's totally inverted compared to American IPAs. As a 5 gallon batch it would have 8oz of hops. But all of them are low AA (Goldings). Actual export British IPAs sent to India later would have had *even more* bittering boil hops, but not really any more finishing hops. That's just how they rolled.Dawg LB Steve wrote:I will also have two other 1 L bottles of Mashani's. Historical British IPA (is this correct) and a Wheat w/French Aramis as the hop.
The wheat beer is nothing special, it's just a wheat beer. I gave it to Dawg so he could see what WB-06 tasted like fermented warm vs. how his wheat beer turned out with it fermented cooler. It's a bit old for a wheat beer, and WB-06 is somewhat mellow anyways, so it's not going to be very estery. It's easy to drink.
The brett beer is basically a Tripel Karmeliet clone like beer as far as grain bill, except with some Rye added, and fermented with French Saison yeast instead of Belgian yeast, so it's a lot drier then the real beer is (the real beer is actually a tad sweet and very unusual as such for a tripel). The Brett didn't have a lot to work with since the Saison yeast fermented it out so dry, so the Brett is really quite mild. It should not be sour, just some pineapple and hay in the background. I have not actually had one in a long time, I've been letting it age hoping the Brett would do more. Dawg is the last person to drink it. He's still alive and talking to me, so it must not be disgusting

No, it was very good. Slight pineapple, not heavy on the funkiness but you know its there.

Yes it does....I've had sales managers meetings all week so far, and our annual sales meeting is tomorrow that I have a large presentation to do. After that, it's all down hill and on to Asheville.

Actually for me, its almost coming too soon and I'm not yet ready. Work has picked up (maybe because I have to make sure things are covered for a full week while I'm gone) and I've not yet started packing. This weekend will be bust ass time for us. At least my wife has started to think about what we'll do the first 3 days we're in the Asheville area........assuming the weather is cooperative.
But as I tell my wife all the time, "once the wheels go up and the flaps level out, it doesn't matter" because if you forgot something....too damned bad.
I'm VERY much looking forward to seeing my Beer Brothers again, and meeting new family. VERY VERY much.
