I just bought this kit from Northern Brewer: The Luckiest Man Pale Ale. They’re donating $10.50 from each one to research for ALS. Having had one dear friend and a number of clients die from this terrible disease, I thought it a worthy purchase. PLUS, it has the advantage of using the HBC-438 hop, and reviews say it has massive juiciness and tropical flavor. NB has free shipping for >$49 (until midnight tonight) so I got a few extra ounces of the hop for future non-kit batches or a variation on my Triple Threat IPA. I plan to brew this one next weekend if it gets here in time. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Re: Calling all juiceheads
I just read about HSB 438 and there's not many reviews yet. Seems either you like it or you don't. I'm game to try anything new.
Please update this thread when you've got this made.

Re: Calling all juiceheads
I just bought some HBC-438. And some Equinox, which equally offends some people. We will see what they turn out like. I'm thinking single hopped beers, and then an IPL with some combo of those and Azzaca.
Re: Calling all juiceheads
It sure sounds interesting. Please do keep us posted on the outcome as this sounds like it's right up my alley in terms of flavor profile. The first hop ever released exclusively for homebrewers, HBC 438 is an experimental variety of neomexicanus that is openly pollinated and native to North America. Expect prominent tropical and stone fruits, herbal, spicy, a subtle cedar note in the aroma alongside a dose of good will—all proceeds go directly to finding a cure for ALS.
Neomexicanus?
Re: Calling all juiceheads
Kealia, I think Neomexicanus is a wild and largely decorative hop.
