Tap Tower En Route

Post by John Sand »

Using pocket change, or, how Boat Money becomes Beer Money.
I ordered a two tap tower. I've been kegging for over a year, using a mini fridge and picnic taps. 2015 was a spendy year, my daughter got married, we bought my wife a newer used car, I'm paying more to store my boat in the south than up here. So, I've been a bit hesitant to convert to a kegerator, primarily because of the price. For several years, I've been putting my pocket change in a jar. When the jar is full, I deposit it in an account for boat "toys", nice things I would not ordinarily buy. I decided that this round would go toward beer gear. And I found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141778649781?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
Two Perlick taps, handles and lines for $128. Yeehaa!

Nice find you did good, Perlicks alone would have cost you 80-90 alone!

Thanks guys.
Steve, I searched for other options, excluding lesser taps. I thought I would build my own tower, maybe wood, or re-purpose something cool. But my all in price kept coming close to the cost of this assembly.
Beer-Lord, there was $108 in the jar. I threw in a twenty from the boat account.

I am going to do something with the keezer eventually using PVC, thinking 2 legs up with elbows and connected across to fit room for 6 taps in line if I move to a bigger freezer. Currently it fits 3) 5 g and 1) 2.5 g.

Last year I re-hosed my tri-tap and hope to never do that again. Even my small hands had problems.
When my kegerator dies, I'm going to go the keezer route where it's much easier for me to manage lines. But space is always a problem. And I have no boat money.

I thought of a Keezer. The local Sears Hardware is closing, they have a 5.1 cubic foot chest freezer discounted to $149. But the reviews show that it may only last a few years and needs a collar. I already own the 4 cubic foot fridge, I only need the tower and a little hardware.
Brewnewb, yours may have nicer faucets. Mine are the least expensive front sealing faucets available from Perlick, the 630PC. I considered even less expensive towers with other brand taps. But first I searched online for perlick vs other taps. The near unanimous response was that the Perlicks were worth it.
