October Beer
Since October is coming and brewing would need to start now (Even though I'm a little late) just wondering what you guys would recommend for a beginner brewer (MR BEER Recipe) that is a good beer for October that is not just a standard refill. All I have brewed so far is just a standard series refills and have a Boysenberry tart i may get going tonight leaving me with a extra LBK (may order another LBK when i order the refill)
Was hoping for like a Craft Series or something with a little more to it than just mixing water and yeast :P But I also don't want to get to complicated that i mess it up on my first try
Thanks for the imput!

I would get the Bewitched Amber Ale Deluxe kit. Easy to make, and very good. You can click on the Mr. Beer link in my sig, then click on Refills, then Deluxe, and find it on the second page.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

Re: October Beer
The old Vienna lager Octoberfest was one of my favorites. Just got a kit from a friend. Actually I'm doing two batches. The first is the old kit, with the booster and I'm adding a can of Briess Munich LME. Also using Safeale 05 yeast. The second batch is the same yeast and LME but using the new Mr. Beer Octoberfest HME. Can't wait to compare old vs. new with all else the same. October will almost be gone before these are ready.

The new one will be better due to the booster in the old one.Matth wrote:The old Vienna lager Octoberfest was one of my favorites. Just got a kit from a friend. Actually I'm doing two batches. Although I tend to brew mine much darker.
KTs Apple got mixed reviews. Either people loved it or hated it.
Oh, once again I noticed that they are having a 20% off sale and no one thought of posting it in their forum for their loyal posters. Seriously, seems like whomever is running the show got their MBA at clown college.

There plenty to chose from. Go into the recipes section, pick one that seem interesting to you. Then click on the ingredients and see if it a peels to you. And yes there is a sale this weekend.

Re: October Beer
Another way to look at it is that the new one will be better because of the LME. Same result, different slant as in praising the LME and not knocking the Booster.RickBeer wrote:The new one will be better due to the booster in the old one.Matth wrote:The old Vienna lager Octoberfest was one of my favorites. Re: October Beer
Hey Jack, they're both going to be good. I have no problem with booster since I read a thread in a former life about malt to adjunct ratios. Sure wish I could go back and re-read that (and a whole lot of others).
