RCE Winter 2016 pairings

Post by FedoraDave »

Well, since the mash is on, I'm taking the bit of down time to pair up our RCE participants. Everyone except HoppySmile is a Level 4, and there were a number of people willing to work at any level, so there are good match-ups. I did fudge the selection process a bit, allowing ScrewyBrewer and BigPapaG to pair up, since they both expressed interest in an extract Kölsch recipe. But everyone else came randomly out of the hat.

Here you go:

ScrewyBrewer/BigPapaG
jimjohnson/The_Professor
dbrowning/HoppySmile
JimH/braukasper
Foothiller/Rayyankee

No need for a tie-breaker, so I'm gonna sit this one out. Have fun working together, and let the Borg know your progress. That's part of the fun of the RCE, too.

Thanks for getting involved and brew strong!

Thanks for the offer, but it's okay. I've got my brew schedule set through April anyway, and I really don't mind warming the bench this time around.

Pm sent Professor
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Dave, as always, thanks for setting this up! I didn't get a chance to post on Sunday as I was out with SWMBO most of the day but I am excited to get going. I messaged my partner on Sunday and can't wait to hear back and get started!

Rayyankee and I were able to settle on a style and recipe pretty quickly. From his suggestion of a spring or summer style, and our willingness to try something new, it's British Golden Ale: a new style in the 2015 BJCP guidelines. I will start a new thread once I get a chance after a business trip this week (if Ray doesn't beat me to it).
