Chinook and.......

Post by jivex5k »

Well I was gonna bottle my Chinook IPA last night.
It's all chinook.
1 oz - 60min
.5 oz - 10 min
.5 oz - 1 min
1 oz dry hop- 1 week

Well the weeks up, had no caps yesterday...bah.
Gotta get some today, but while I'm there I figured dude...I need more hops.
I'm only going to dry hop the second addition for 1 day, I will bottle tomorrow.

Soooo, any suggestions on how much and what hop?
I was thinking just straight up 2oz of chinook, hop this baby even harder. I want a strong hop aroma and flavor.
I love the piney flavor of chinook.

But what do you guys think?

Oh, it's a 5 gallon batch BTW, OG 1.054

I recently did the Chinook IPA and must have done something wrong as it was barely a pale ale. Dry hopped in the keg and saved it.

I've done a few IPA's with lots of Chinook, not a SMaSH but dry hopped with Citra. The little bit of Citra really made the beer.

Interesting.
I'll give it a whirl.
1 oz Citra for 1 day.

Ah moot point, LHBS doesn't have either of those in stock.
Hell they don't even have Centennial or Cascade...wasn't meant to be.

That'll work but I'm wondering just how much 1 day of 1 oz will really do for you. Certainly better than none but I'd be tempted to do at least 2 oz minimum.

You can't go wrong with Centennial. One of my favorite hops to dry hop with.

Yummmmm. Maybe give it 3-4 days although Dave (the Hat) says that 24 hours give max dry hop effectiveness.
