The first good day that comes along

Post by Gymrat »

Ralph and I are going to brew the following.

Recipe: Ralph's 80 Shilling
Brewer: Ralph the Wonderdog
Asst Brewer: Roger
Style: Scottish Export
TYPE: All Grain
Taste: (30.0)

Recipe Specifications
--------------------------
Boil Size: 5.70 gal
Post Boil Volume: 5.20 gal
Batch Size (fermenter): 5.00 gal
Bottling Volume: 5.00 gal
Estimated OG: 1.055 SG
Estimated Color: 14.3 SRM
Estimated IBU: 25.5 IBUs
Brewhouse Efficiency: 75.00 %
Est Mash Efficiency: 75.0 %
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------
Amt Name Type # %/IBU
9 lbs Maris Otter (Crisp) (4.0 SRM) Grain 1 93.2 %
8.0 oz Honey Malt (25.0 SRM) Grain 2 5.2 %
2.5 oz Roasted Barley (Simpsons) (550.0 SRM) Grain 3 1.6 %
1.00 oz East Kent Goldings (EKG) [5.10 %] - Firs Hop 4 21.6 IBUs
1.00 oz East Kent Goldings (EKG) [5.10 %] - Boil Hop 5 3.9 IBUs
1.0 pkg SafAle English Ale (DCL/Fermentis #S-04) Yeast 6 -

Mash Schedule: Single Infusion, Medium Body, Batch Sparge
Total Grain Weight: 9 lbs 10.5 oz

I already weighed out the grains so all I have to do is start heating the water and dump them in the hopper. As I stated in another thread I always go out before coffee and start my mash. Then come for breakfast and coffee. I always hated weighing grains out when I haven't had my coffee. Mostly because it is a hassle carrying them to my brewery then bringing the containers back in. Now that I am retired as soon as I decide on what I want to brew I go ahead and put my grain bill together. It makes brew day oh so much nicer.

That's the bad thing about work: it gets in the way of brewing.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.
