Mosaic Pale Ale - Kealia
So I won a random drawing for some free beer and this is one of the beers that came from Kealia.
I tasted this 2 days ago but have been really busy, luckily I took notes while drinking.
This was a trub bottle but sat in the fridge for almost 2 weeks (due to sickness). Poured super clear and clean. Nice color to it although you cant really tell from my pics due to horrible lighting. Nice frothy head that lasted for a couple minutes but settled nicely.
The aroma for this thing is insanely fruity and juicy! Man, I love it. Some people like the pine, some the citrus, but me, give me some tropical fruit or berry notes and I'm all about it. This Mosaic Pale definitely delivered on the tropical fruit front. For me, I predominantly picked up Mango followed by less distinguishable but undoubtedly tropical fruits.
The taste is super refreshing. Easy drinker. Grain bill seems simple (good thing) and not over thought. Again, very juicy/fruity. Taste follows aroma with lots of mango and backed up by various tropical fruits. Very crisp taste. Not too bitter with a nice hop "bite". Perfect for this warm SoCal weather.
I could have drank a six pack of these if I had the chance
A very well done beer! Great job Kealia, you brew damn fine beer. I'm looking forward to digging into the other one. Thanks again for letting me try this.

Mango! That's it! I couldn't nail down what that was myself, thank you. It's been driving me nuts. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I know what you mean about the weather, too. It's a nice fit for a warm summer....err......winter day here in CA, eh?

Seriously, that was a really nice brew.
Yeah took me a few sips to figure out it was mango I was tasting and smelling but after that it was very clear. I'm a huge mango fan so that worked out perfectly for me!

That mango, crying waterfalls, is oddly disturbing.

I have the same effect on most everybody. I make them cry mango tears.SomeGuyBrewing wrote:That mango, crying waterfalls, is oddly disturbing.
I've gotten some mild mango with Azacca and Galaxy hops but I think Summit as well as a few others will give a mango like flavor.

Nice!
Maybe one of those should have been on the label.

Thats good to know, thanks for the info. I'm planning a hoppy wheat ale based on Wheat Hop by East End Brewing Company in Pittsburgh. I emailed back and forth with their head brewer (really cool guy) and he told me hops in Wheat Hop are Galaxy and Mosaic! Sweet!I've gotten some mild mango with Azacca and Galaxy hops but I think Summit as well as a few others will give a mango like flavor.
