Another reason to hate Californians
I was walking through our local Whole Foods yesterday and it struck me that we have some odd stuff here. Stereotypes are developed with some basis and these even made me laugh:
Hemp water:
Beet chips.....
Maybe we ARE all hippies out here!

I don't think I've ever been in a Whole Paycheck. I used to think Trader Joes was a similar model, but TJ often beats the "regular" grocery stores on price and has a great selection, so when I can find a parking space, I buy there. I just wish they had one closer to my house.

Nah its probably at all whole foods, but they keep getting beat up on a regular basis anymore for shady products.

You are only scratching the surface of the cooky crap we have out here. You won't catch me in whole foods. In fact I only go to trader joes when I need hatch chilis. My wife brought home saltless bacon one day and I effen freaked. SALTLESS BACON, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT. Uhhhhh yeah no effen way.
Re: Another reason to hate Californians
Are you still married?
Re: Another reason to hate Californians
You could always add some baconless salt.
Re: Another reason to hate Californians
Saltless bacon...so like...cured and smoked pork belly...but with no salt? How does that even work!?Whamolagan wrote:You are only scratching the surface of the cooky crap we have out here. That goes along with the tofu bacon that was mixed in with the regular bacon last time I went to the grocery store. I am not against tofu. But tofu isn't bacon no matter what you do with it.Whamolagan wrote:You are only scratching the surface of the cooky crap we have out here. You won't catch me in whole foods. I used to go to Whole Foods because they were one of the stores that carried a large selection of beer. The common stuff like Sam Adams and Bell's was usually $1 more per 6 pack than the grocery store but they had an awesome selection of bombers that was cheaper than the other place that had good selection. Outside of the beer I think they stock a ton of hippie chow no matter what state you are in.

Re: Another reason to hate Californians
My local Whole Foods sometimes carries emmer wheat that I can malt at home.
Re: Another reason to hate Californians
I go to Whole foods for only 2 things........special spices that can't be found at my local grocery store and craft beer. The WF by my house carries craft beer that I can seldom get anywhere else.
Beerlord gets really awesome sausage from WF...so I partake of that whenever he feels the need to share.

Maybe I'll get curious whether the WF on my route home from work has exotic chips like those beet vegetable chips -- not that I'd want to pick up a bag. As it is, I just shake my head as I pass a corner where they used to have a small Homebrew section -- until they replaced it with display racks of potato chips. They do have good spices, fruit juices, honey, etc.

I'm just going to pretend that I didn't see either of these. Don't mess with my bacon!duff wrote:That goes along with the tofu bacon that was mixed in with the regular bacon last time I went to the grocery store. I am not against tofu.
